1980s

Audrey Whitson, BSW’81, published her second book, collection of short stories called The Glorious Mysteries and Other Stories. She works for Alberta Human Services as a project coordinator helping redesign front-end service delivery of social programs.

Dr. Michael Guiffre, MD’84, is past president of the Alberta Medical Association and he helped negotiate a new contract for physicians with the current government while advocating for his members. He was named one of the 50 Most Influential People of 2013 by Alberta Venture magazine.

Karen Klemp, BComm’85, decided that she needed a life-changing experience this year, so she left her position as a software support analyst at QHR Software in Kelowna, B.C. and departed for Taiwan. She’s on a one-year contract teaching English at Joy English Schools in Nan-tou City and Mingjian in Central Taiwan and lives in Nan-tou City. Although many new graduates travel or work abroad following university, Kemp is glad to be able to bring her rich work experience to this new role. She’s enjoying the adventure so far and would recommend it to others looking for a similar “New Year’s Revolution” in their work and personal lives. Her two children are grown up and pursuing their own dreams so the timing was perfect!

Nona Footz, BA’89, is a managing director at RSR Partners in their Greenwich, CT, office where she is a member of the Board and CEO, assessment and recruiting practice, in addition to leading the life sciences practice. Nona is also an adjunct professor at Manhattanville College and New York University and a board member of the Executive Women’s Golf Association.
